Feedback from the mat
Comments shared with us by members and parents. We publish what people actually said — nothing here is invented to fill space.
I'd put off starting for two years because I thought I'd be the least fit person in the room. Nobody even noticed — everyone was too busy concentrating on their own combinations.

I came for fitness and stayed because I was actually learning something. Two years later I still can't quite explain it to people at work.

My son was painfully shy when he started. Six months in, his teachers noticed the change before we did.
Parent · Junior kickboxing
The ladies sessions were the only reason I tried grappling at all. Coming on my own was completely normal — half the room had done the same.
Ladies No-Gi BJJ member · Lower Earley
Two private sessions did more for my guard retention than six months of turning up and hoping the topic came round.

Free parking outside sounds like a small thing until you've spent a year trying to train somewhere in town on a wet Tuesday.

Patterns
What comes up again and again
Individual reviews vary. These are the themes that repeat.
Beginners don't feel out of place
The most consistent piece of feedback we get is from people who expected to be judged and weren't. Dedicated beginner sessions and sensible pairing do most of that work.
Coaches correct rather than supervise
Members regularly mention being told specifically what they were doing wrong, by name, in the moment — rather than being left to copy a demonstration and hope.
Parents notice changes outside the gym
Confidence, focus and sleep come up far more often in parent feedback than anything to do with technique or competition results.
Nobody is being sold to
No joining fee, no grading upsells and no retention calls. People comment on the absence of a sales process more than we expected them to.
Questions
About our reviews
We only publish feedback that members have actually given us, and we won't invent testimonials to fill space on a page. If a quote appears on this site, a real person said it. We'd also encourage you to look at independent sources rather than taking any gym's own website at face value — and better still, to come and watch a session, which tells you more about a martial arts club than any written review possibly can.
Judge for yourself
Come and watch a session
Ten minutes at the side of the mat tells you more than any review page, including this one.
