The premise
The fastest way to get good at a specific thing
Group classes are the backbone of training here and they work: varied partners, varied intensity, and a curriculum that covers everything over time. What they can't do is spend forty minutes on the one position that keeps costing you, or run at eleven in the morning because that's when you're free.
Personal training solves both. There's no group to keep together, so corrections happen the moment something goes wrong rather than three rounds later. Repetitions are aimed at exactly what you're getting wrong. For most people, one private session covers what would take a month of group classes to stumble into.
We're straightforward about the trade-off, too: private coaching is not a substitute for training with people who don't know what you're about to do. The best results come from combining the two — private work to fix problems, group classes to pressure-test them.
Who it's for
Six reasons people book one-to-one
If any of these describe you, private coaching is probably a better use of your money than another group session.
You want to start privately first
Walking into a busy class knowing nothing is the single biggest barrier for most people. A handful of one-to-one sessions covering stance, movement and basic technique means that when you do join a group class, you already know a coach and you're not starting from zero.
Your hours don't fit the timetable
Our group classes run in the evenings and on weekend mornings. If you work shifts, work nights, travel, or work from home with a flexible middle of the day, private sessions during daytime hours solve that outright.
One thing keeps letting you down
A guard you can't retain, a takedown that never lands, a right hand that telegraphs. Group classes move on to the next topic; a private session doesn't. You'll drill the specific problem with immediate correction until the shape changes.
You're preparing for a competition
Camp work involves specific problems — a style of opponent, a weight cut, a hole that keeps costing you rounds. One-to-one coaching lets us build preparation around the actual date and actual matchup rather than general fitness.
You're training with a partner or friend
Semi-private sessions for two or three people split the cost and give you a live partner for drills while keeping individual attention. Popular with couples, friends training together and pairs of teenagers.
You're coming back from injury
Returning to full classes after a long layoff is where people re-injure themselves. Private sessions let a coach control intensity precisely, rebuild movement patterns, and tell you honestly when you're ready to rejoin the group.
What you get
Inside a private session
- An honest assessment of where you actually are, not a sales pitch
- A session plan built around your goals rather than a fixed syllabus
- Immediate correction — no waiting for the coach to reach your side of the mat
- Any discipline we teach: MMA, kickboxing, boxing, No-Gi BJJ, wrestling
- Conditioning tailored to what you're training for, if you want it
- Straight advice on when to add group classes and which ones
How pricing works
Rates depend on the coach, the session length and whether it's one-to-one or semi-private, so we quote directly rather than publishing a number that wouldn't apply to you. Blocks of sessions work out differently to one-offs and we'll be clear about that up front.
“Two private sessions did more for my guard retention than six months of turning up and hoping the topic came round.”

Questions
Personal training questions
Four groups mainly. People who want to accelerate specific technical progress rather than wait for a topic to come around in class. People who feel too self-conscious to start in a group and want to build a base privately first. Competitors preparing for a specific date with specific problems to solve. And people whose working hours simply don't line up with our evening timetable. If you fit any of those, one-to-one work is usually far more efficient than adding another group session.
