Beginner Kickboxing in Reading
A class built entirely for people who have never trained. No experience, no equipment, no pressure.

The discipline
What beginners kickboxing training involves
Most people who want to try martial arts never do, because walking into a room full of people who already know what they're doing is genuinely intimidating. This class exists to remove that step.
Beginners Kickboxing runs twice a week — Tuesday at 20:30 and Saturday at 12:30 — and everyone in the room is at the same stage. You'll learn a stance, a guard and a couple of combinations, and you'll work them on pads with a partner.
What you'll learn
- How to stand, move and keep your hands up
- Jab, cross and the first combinations
- Basic kicks and how to throw them without losing balance
- Simple defence you can use immediately
- How to hold pads for a partner
- How to pace yourself through a round

Beginner guidance
Common worries, answered plainly: you don't need to be fit — the class is paced with breaks. You don't need equipment — trainers, shorts and a t-shirt are fine. You won't be hit — beginners work on pads. And you never have to spar or compete.
Come ten minutes early, tell the coach it's your first session, and the rest is straightforward.
Your first session is free — for adults and children alike. Message us and we'll book you in.

Questions
Beginners Kickboxing questions
Yes, and this is by far the most common worry we hear. The beginners class is deliberately paced with breaks so that you can stop, drink, catch your breath and rejoin without disrupting anything. Nobody in the room is watching you — they're all concentrating on their own combinations and their own breathing, and most of them felt exactly the same on their first night. Fitness follows training rather than preceding it, and it arrives faster than you'd expect once you're going twice a week.
